From reading the book you read things that may seem that Hamlet is only "mad" at certain times, and the rest of the time he knows what is what. But also reading you can see that Hamlet is certainly upset and confused and inturn that makes the reader believe that in Hamlets state of mind translates into an extraorinarily intense state of mind that would suggest madness.Although one may assume that Hamlets role of being mad has overcomed him in his journey for revenge, in the end the reader realizes that Hamlet was not mad but was just assuming his role as a mad person to better seek his revenge.
